LGTM.

The CL description reads a bit awkward though, and in general just stating "Fix
bug X" doesn't convey any information (You better are fixing the bug, not making
it worse! ;-) ). Explaining *how* you fix the bug (moving the safety check out
of the general codepath) would be better.
