LGTM. The reason I hadn't moved these is that I was using the existance of the
files in the subdirectories as a way to track what was done. That is, the files
in base/strings, etc. use the correct namespace and no usings, etc. This isn't a
big deal though.

Cool. Is the plan to make everything in base/ be in the base:: namespace?
Perhaps that's some cleanup busywork I can do while waiting for inspiration to
strike.
